The Afghan national security advisor Haneef Atmar spoke to his US counterpart H.R. McMaster.

Mr. Atmar wrote on his twitter, he had discussed with McMaster in details the implementation of the US-Afghanistan bilateral compact, reform, peace process efforts, counter terrorism, and regional cooperation.
Both sides had previously discussed regional challenges of terrorism between Pakistan and Afghanistan through telephone conversation.

Although many contacts have been made between senior Afghan and US officials in the context of what is called the fight against terrorism, it has not yet achieved tangible results.

Afghan and U.S officials regularly discuss issues after Donald Trump declared new US strategy on South Asia, accusing Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism.
