National security authorities from Afghanistan, Russia, China, and India gathered in Tehran on Wednesday to discuss regional and international developments.
Afghanistan’s National Security Adviser (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib attended the first meeting of Regional Security Dialogue initiated by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The office of NSC said in a statement that Dr. Mohib is leading a delegation of high-level government officials during his one-day visit to Iran.
“Afghanistan along with Iran is at the forefront of the fight against terrorism,” NSA said at the meeting. “as long as the terror groups in Afghanistan are supported financially and militarily by foreigners, there is no effective way to deal with them,” he added.
The country’s NSA further said that the regional countries should jointly work together to deal with the threat posed by terrorism.

The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani highlighted the significance of continued constructive talks in creating security, peace, and welfare in the region. According to Tasnim.
Calling for concerted action against intellectual sources of terrorism, Shamkhani proposed that the regional actors should achieve a new security architecture on the basis of their own capabilities.

The Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev has also warned that Daesh (ISIS) may repeat the Syrian scenario in Afghanistan. Tass reported.
Nikolai Patrushev noted that the situation in Afghanistan deteriorated due to the activity of the international terrorist organization ISIS.
Speaking about the crisis in Afghanistan, Patrushev stressed that it has no military solution and the sole way to settle political problems in Afghanistan is by reaching a common Afghan agreement through political means with active international support.
The representatives of China and India also spoke at the event, proposing ideas for the fight against extremism and terrorism.
However, Pakistan was the only country which was not present at the meeting.
