According to reports, Khogyani district was fallen to Taliban fighters Sunday night, and at least 13 Afghan security forces were killed.
At least seven soldiers and six policemen were killed, provincial governor spokesman Arif Noori said.
Four soldiers were also wounded in the early Monday attack at the joint army and police checkpoint in Khogyani district.
Noori added that six Taliban were killed and more than 10 others were wounded during a three-hour battle with Afghan forces.
“last night, the district fell to the Taliban, and all the telecommunication networks, except Salaam, have been cut off,” said Nasir Ahmad Faqiri, the chairman of the provincial council.
It is worth mentioning that Ghazni province had been collapsed by Taliban about three months ago, and the parliamentary election was not held in the province as well.
