The US special representative for Afghan Peace Khalilzad briefed president Ghani Monday about his recent trip to the region, saying that the ground for talks is ready more than ever.
The presidential palace said in a statement that Zalmay Khalilzad described his visit with Taliban representatives in Qatar positive.

Khalilzad said that the US will continue to its efforts to launch intra-Afghan talks.
The envoy reiterated that the United States, as a strategic friend of Afghanistan, respects the government and laws of Afghanistan and is ready for any kind of cooperation in the wake of the upcoming presidential election to be held by the will of the people of Afghanistan.

President Ghani thanked the US envoy over his efforts to bring peace in Afghanistan and added that peace is a fundamental need for the Afghan people and a key goal for the government.
According to president Ghani, the government of Afghanistan is completely ready for intra Afghan negotiations.
