Afghanistan’s Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced on Tuesday that the calendar for the April 20 presidential election and Ghazni’s parliamentary election were finalised.


Afghanistan’s Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced on Tuesday that the calendar for the April 20 presidential election and Ghazni’s parliamentary election were finalised.
On Wednesday, the IEC members expect to approve the election calendar at a public hearing.

The IEC’s chief Gula Jan Abdul Bade Sayyad at a press conference said that the presidential vote would be held together with parliamentary elections in Ghazni province on April 20, 2019.
He said that the elections for provincial and district councils would be held on 21stSeptember on 2019.
Mr Sayyad said that holding four elections together would require time and more preparations.
He added that another campaign would be kicked off for the registration of voters ahead of the elections.

The presidential election procedure and candidate registration date, will be published by the IEC today 28 November.
