Mir Rahman Rahmani has been elected as the Wolesi Jirga speaker by winning 50+1 percent of the MPs votes.


Mir Rahman Rahmani has been elected as the Wolesi Jirga speaker by winning 50+1 percent of the MPs votes.
According to reports, Mir Rahman Rahmani succeeded to be elected as the speaker of the House of Representatives by getting 123 votes against 55 votes of Mr Osuli during an election process held at the parliament on Saturday.

Although, it was earlier announced that none of the nominees were able to meet the conditions, Mir Rahman Rahmani could meet the conditions.
Mir Rahman Rahmani and Kamal Naser Osuli won 123 and 55 votes respectively, 53 votes were invalid and 3 were white.

The election process for the speaker of Afghanistan’s Wolesi Jirga witnessed controversies at the parliament.
