US special representative on Afghan peace process Zalmay Khalilzad has recently said that the peace process the priority, but election planning must go forward.
“A peace process that delivers a political settlement is THE priority …But wanting peace does not preclude Afghans from demanding preparations for a credible presidential election,” Khalilzad twitted Saturday. Adding that “election planning must go forward as we pursue the peace Afghans deserve”.

The remarks come as analysts have recently raised questions about the US priorities in Afghanistan.
