President M. Ashraf Ghani arrived in Abu Dhabi to attend the funeral ceremony of Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“President Ashraf Ghani reached UAE this morning to condole the UAE officials and people on the passing of Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” said Seddiq Sediqqi, a spokesman for the presidential palace.

Asadullah Khalid, Acting Minister of Defense, who accompany president Ghani during the trip, met with Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan – Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

During the meeting with his UAE counterpart, Asadullah Khalid discussed security and counter terrorism.

“The UAE’s Minister of State for Defence Affairs expressed his country’s willingness to continue assistance to and cooperation with Afghanistan,” said a statement of the Ministry of Defence.

Asadullah Khalid expressed gratitude for UAE’s support to Afghanistan and stressed on the importance of strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries.
