Public Health Ministry Spokesman said Thursday that out of the 45 suspected cases of coronavirus that have been tested over the past 24 hours, 40 have been reported negative and 5 are under investigation.
“Among the total 340 suspected samples that have so far reached the Ministry of Public Health’s central laboratories, 22 cases are positive, 313 are negative and 5 are under investigation,” said MoPH spokesman Wahidullah Mayar.

According to him, no positive coronavirus case has been registered in central laboratories in the past 48 hours.

“A coronavirus diagnostic laboratory is set to start operating in Herat province today and then there will be no need to transfer suspected samples from Herat to central laboratories,” he added.

He also praised the installation and activation of a thermal scanner in Islam Qala port to speed up the process of screening people returning from Iran to Afghanistan, saying the device would soon be installed and activated in Kabul airport.
So far, 22 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Afghanistan, mostly in western Herat province.
