The Ministry of Public Health says Sunday that 664 new coronavirus cases have been registered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 24,766 nationwide.
Kabul, Herat, Nangarhar, Balkh, Kandahar, and Paktia have the highest number of infections.

According to the Ministry’s information, 524 patients have been recovered which brings the total recoveries to 4,725 across the country.
In the past 24 hours, 20 patients died from the virus. The total death toll is 471 in Afghanistan as of Sunday.

This comes as Ahmad Jawad Usmani, the acting head of the Ministry of Public Health says the Ministry lacks the capacity to test COVID-19 patients in the country.
Mr Osmani also said that as the country’s coronavirus pandemic became more critical, the method of identifying patients will change from laboratory tests to clinical symptoms.
