Afghanistan’s NDS announced Thursday that one of the main masterminds behind the assassination of Mawlawi Azizullah Mufleh and Mawlawi Ayaz Niazi was arrested.
Obaidullah, known as Akrama, was a member of the Haqqani terrorist network who received terrorist and intelligence training in North Waziristan and traveled to Afghanistan to carry out terrorist operations, said NDS in a statement.
The statement added that Obaidullah confessed to the assassination of Mawlawi Ayaz Niazi and Mufleh, and was arrested when he tried to attack a mosque in Kunduz province.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) quoted Obaidullah, known as Akrama, as saying that he has worked along Shahab ul-Muhajir which indicates that he was one of the most important leaders of ISIS-Khorasan in Afghanistan.
However, the response to many of ISIS’s terrorist attacks on mosques and gatherings is still unknown.
