The long-awaited intra-Afghan negotiations between the Afghan government and the Taliban officially began in Doha moments ago with the recitation of verses of Quran.

Top representatives and authorities from countries in the world and region attended the opening ceremony of Intra-Afghan negotiations as the delegation of the Afghan government and the Taliban arrived at the opening ceremony.

The Head of HCNR Abdullah Abdullah, Sheikh M. bin Abdulrahman AL-Thani, Qatar’s FM, US secretary of state Mike Pompeo, and Mullah Baradar, deputy of Taliban political office addresses the opening ceremony of peace talks in Qatar.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will also virtually address the upcoming peace talks in Doha between the government of Afghanistan and the Taliban opposition movement, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said in a press briefing on Friday.
