Afghan National Security Adviser (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib suggested that the next stages of intra-Afghan peace talks should be continued inside the country.
The Afghan government does not have any consideration with any venue selected by the Taliban, and is ready to prepare and conduct talks in any area proposed by the Taliban, including the construction of facilities, NSA Hamdullah Mohib said in a thread of tweets.
The continuations of the talks within the country will build trust in the peace negotiations and provide the ability to Afghan people to monitor and own the peace process, he said.
The National Security Adviser has stressed that by advancing the negotiations within the country, the negotiators would be better informed about the demands of the people and additional expenses would be avoided.
“It’s important for the Afghans to move forward the next rounds of peace talks inside Afghanistan so that peace would be influenced by the realities of the Afghan society rather than by foreigners,” he added.
According to him, peace abroad affects peacekeepers from external circumstances, and experience shows that such reconciliation does not serve the interests of Afghans.
The Taliban group, however, has not officially commented yet.
