President Ashraf Ghani held a telephonic conversation about the peace process with Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, the presidential palace said in a statement on Saturday.

During the talks, both sides discussed an immediate ceasefire in the peace process, expanding bilateral relations and cooperation, particularly trade relations between the two countries
“The Emir of Qatar promised his country will try to pave the way for establishing ceasefire,” the statement added.

The Emir of Qatar expressed his condolences to the President and people of Afghanistan over the death of Abdul Hakim Dalili, former Afghan ambassador to Qatar.
It is worth mentioning that inter-Afghan talks will begin on 5 January 2021.
