US special envoy on Afghan peace process Zalmay Khalilzad arrived in Kabul on Saturday morning to discuss the peace process with Afghan authorities.

Sources from the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) said that Khalilzad met the head of the HCNR Abdullah Abdullah and discussed peace efforts.

Last week, the HCNR said that it has reviewed over 20 peace plans and the final peace plan will be drafted this week.
In this plan, the post-peace system, transition period, structure of the transition period as well as other issues have been considered to achieve a lasting peace.

Khalilzad’s visit from Kabul comes as preparations are underway for the peace conference in Turkey.
