Powerful explosions followed by gunfire were heard close to the Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan military hospital in the capital Kabul.

Belal Karimi, the deputy Taliban spokesman, confirmed the blasts, saying that the first explosion occurred at the entrance and the second one near the hospital.
The Taliban’s Interior Ministry spokesman Saeed Khosti said that the blast left casualties, but did not specify the number. However, the emergency hospital in Kabul said that 9 injured people had been transferred to the hospital so far.

According to him, Taliban special forces have already been deployed to the area.
After the explosions, armed assailants entered the 400-bed hospital, according to reports.

The attackers are said to be members of IS-K terrorist group.
“I am inside the hospital. I heard a big explosion coming from the first checkpoint. We were told to go to safe rooms. I also hear guns firing,” a doctor at the hospital said.
Gunfire was heard at the scene, say eyewitnesses.
